Indroves is an alternative-rock band based in Los Angeles and we had the opportunity to review their debut album And They Came Indroves. The band consists of four members: Jonny, Jeremy, Robin, and Addison. These guys have clearly been working their butts off to produce impressive alternative music that is becoming harder to find these days. Their five-song EP is a promising success.
Indroves is sort of grungy and emo, but their vocals prove you don’t have to totally whine out your lyrics to show melodic talent; the rhythms of the guitar and drums compliment each other very well. Each song builds up to the chorus and delivers heavier rock ‘n roll sounds towards the middle and end.
I can still hear “Scene From A Movie” in my head and I don’t mind it. It’s a soothing alternative track with poetic lyrics most people can relate to. “Like a scene from a movie, where I don’t wanna be. I’m moving in slow motion, like a bad dream.” They write mostly about life experiences and perform from their hearts. “Ugly” is an excellent track and could be a #1 hit for the band with its catchy chorus. “Scars of a Broken Heart” demonstrates the fan favorite on their MySpace page with the most plays. Jonny delivers a nice range on vocals, and the lyrics are personal even though everyone that has experienced heartbreak can relate to this track. Sure, love is wonderful and breaking up sucks but let’s be honest: it always makes for a great song. You can’t help but play air drums to “Halos and Echoes” because of the intro that includes awesome drumbeats. I think I’ll hit repeat on that one right now. “You Dare (Romeo)” is another love song that I picture being played during the end credits of a romantic film: “So hold your breath and count on me, against the world it’s you and me, eternally.”
Indroves has been performing throughout the Los Angeles area and their growing fan base is starting to request more of them. We now understand why.
