Arms Like Yours: Architect EP

We’ve been keeping our eye out for the latest EP by Arms Like Yours since we last chatted with them in April, and now it’s finally here! The screamo hardcore band based in Fullerton has already significantly increased their fan base with their new EP that includes more alternative sounds since the band has regrouped. The EP album is entitled Architect, and includes five songs that will liven up your eardrums and make you praise their impressive talents.

“I Awake” couldn’t be a better title for their first track that has solid forceful beats. In case you are having trouble getting up in the morning, I suggest this be your new morning alarm song. It is sure to get your blood pumping and awake you to the sounds of hardcore rhythms.

“Collapse Repeat” has a great guitar intro and the screaming and melodic vocals create a good balance of hard and soft harmonies. This band knows how to deliver what we want as listeners.

The track “New Skin,” has smoother vocals in the first few seconds and then soon transitions to harder screams creating a dramatic build-up with guitar and drums theatrically encouraging the vocals. My favorite part is about three minutes into this track when everything musically emphasizes the lyrics. Complete satisfaction to the ears.

On the track “Paralipsis,” Rodriguez sings, “Let the straps tear through my skin, Twist and turn my spine, You are not a burden and I’ll wear your skin as if it’s mine.” Rory Rodriguez has melodic vocals on this one and the lyrics are beautifully poetic.

“Architect” is the track which defines their new EP. The multi-talented Rory Rodriguez explains the lyrics to his fans:

“This song is entirely based around god, it’s about my personal belief that I believe in a higher power, that we as humans, cannot be a coincidence or an accident, based on emotions I’ve felt, and experiences I’ve lived, good and bad. I feel like with that in mind, I try to keep my head up even when life is at it’s darkest for me, and all I really wanted to do with this track, was to encourage people to look at themselves, and question, who is there god? thank you so much for listening guys, I love every single one of you ♥ -Rory”

A personal response to his fans’ comments on Facebook, reminds you that these guys are rockstars with down-to-earth warmth and are appreciative of the fan response to their music.

While they are still in the market for a label that would be smart enough to have them, we can enjoy what they have to offer now which is musical intelligence, through hardcore singing and instruments, that promises them a long and hard-earned successful career.
