Being an Original Artist

David Hooper

Just recorded an episode of Music Business Radio with Ed Bazel of CorporateArtists.com. One of the things we talked about was the various venues for musiciansto perform, including clubs, corporate events, symphony events, casinos, colleges, and fairs.

Obviously, being the “original artist” of a hit song is a great selling point togetting these gigs. However, there are plenty of options for otherperformers.

People are looking forentertainment. They don’t care about music as much as they care about experiencing a moment. Ed explained it well when he said he’s lookingfor acts that “suspend reality.” If you can do this, you’ll always havea gig.

The video below is a great example of what I’m talking about and proves you don’t have to have ahit song of your own to put on an amazing show.
