Mark Wahlberg Shines on Walk of Fame

Mark Wahlberg was honored July 29, 2010 with a star bearing his name on the internationally recognized Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Introduced to the excited crowd, which included his “The Other Guys” co-star Will Ferrell, Wahlberg had many people to thank.

Among them were his wife, his four children, and God.

I love my family . . .my kids are actually sitting through this, and so far they’re—I  know they’d rather be playing at the park or going to the toy store.”

He also thanked Penny Marshall, who gave him his first acting break by casting him in 1994”s “Renaissance Man.”

Once known as “Marky Mark” and singing with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, the rapper with the bad-boy image changed his name to simply Mark Wahlberg in the early ‘90’s and cleaned up his act. He went on to be in such films as “The Basketball Diaries”, “The Perfect Storm,” and “The Departed,” for which he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

“I really felt like this was all a big practical joke,” the 39-year old actor said of his star.

Of course, it turned out to be no joke at all.  Star No. 2414 belongs to Mark Wahlberg.
