Imagine sewing together creative art pieces, with rad music, and unique jewelry you won’t find anywhere else… all in one place! DJs playing tunes via solar powered panels, eco-friendly clothing, not to mention your occasional connoisseur mustache saying, “How do ya’ do!” at every corner and that hipster neighbor of yours enjoying a taco next to a VW Bus. Well, this place exists folks! Or at least it did, this past weekend in downtown Santa Ana where the Patchwork Show took place.
This festival focuses on centralizing a community of emerging crafters, giving them the opportunity to share their skills and artistic expression with the public in their very own Orange County. Here you can find handmade items ranging from men and women’s clothing to candles, accessories, artwork, dog items, paper goods, etc.
Patchwork started as a collaboration project between Nicole Stevenson and Delilah Snell, two gals that acknowledged the lack of crafting in Orange County and, as mentioned on their website, “after several glasses of wine” decided to embark on a journey to bring the indie fest to life. This little duo not only has a love for the arts, but they also embrace them in every way. Stevenson teaches indie-crafting classes in a project called “The Craft Kitchen,” while Snell is the owner of The Road Less Traveled, an eco-friendly store in Santa Ana.
Don’t worry if you missed the Patchwork Festival this past weekend; just mark your calendars because it’s happening all over again June 27th in Long Beach from 11-5pm at Marine Stadium Park.
